Apply with your team
Applications for NMC27 open in September 2026. Here is what you need, and how selection works.

Applications open September 2026
There is no entry fee for NMC27. Competing costs your team nothing. Food and accommodation at NOATUN are offered as optional packages, and those are the only costs involved.
The application form opens on this page in September and closes on 1 November 2026. Register your team's interest below and we will write to you the day it opens. It takes two minutes and commits you to nothing.
Is your team eligible?
Requirements as they applied for NMC26. Confirmed requirements for 2027 are published with the application form.
- Four medics per team, with an optional reserve.
- At least two of the four hold competence at Advanced First Responder or Combat Life Saver level (roughly 40 hours of training) or higher. Equivalent qualifications from other national systems count - if you are unsure, apply and the committee will assess it.
- All members are affiliated with a relevant organization in the total defence concept: military, police, fire and rescue, health services, volunteer organizations or private actors.
- Mixed teams across organizations are allowed and welcome.
Two divisions
New for 2027. A part-time volunteer medic and a full-time operator should not be measured against each other, so the field is split. You say which one you are applying for.
Full-time professionals: regular soldiers, selected personnel and specialised units.
Higher expectations, and a harder competition.
The breadth of the total defence concept: part-time and volunteer medics, and professionals working at a medium to high level.
The division most teams belong in.
If you are unsure which one fits, apply anyway and say so. The committee would rather place you than lose you.
How teams are selected
Demand exceeds capacity - in 2026 more than 40 teams applied for 18 places. Selection is deliberate, and this is how it works.
The committee assesses affiliation with NROF and the total defence concept, the team's qualifications, and what each team adds to the breadth of the field. The starting field is deliberately composed to reflect the whole of the total defence concept - military and civilian, Nordic and Baltic, professional and volunteer.
The 2027 field is 18 teams, and one reserve team is held for every place, so 18 teams go on the reserve list. Withdrawals happen most years, and reserve teams get the call first.

Register your team's interest
Not the application, and not binding. It puts your team in front of the committee before the field is composed, and it means you hear first when applications open.
