The Challenge
Not all medics get to train realistically for crisis and war in their daily work. NMC exists to change that.
Teams of four medics rotate through nine demanding, realistic scenarios related to crisis and war - and are scored on good patient care and sound tactics, not on adherence to any single protocol.
Beyond the competition itself, NMC is a professional meeting place: workshops, exhibitors, networking and knowledge-sharing for everyone with an interest in tactical medicine and health preparedness. The event is open to the public.

Low and Slow
A mission to retrieve a casualty turns into a drone attack on the medics.
Tropic Thunder

The 2027 scenarios are being designed now. What should the field face? Suggest a scenario - the designers read everything.

Two languages, same care. The NMC form is MARCH-based - judging is guideline-neutral, and teams work by their own doctrine.How teams are judged
Fair, transparent scoring is what makes the competition worth entering. This is how it works.
- Every team is scored on a MARCH-based digital assessment form: points for interventions, penalties for missed critical interventions, bonus points for exceptional performance.
- At least two judges score every team at every scenario, then agree on a consensus score. All judges meet in a joint consensus meeting to resolve inconsistencies before results are final.
- Judging is guideline-neutral. Not all teams use TCCC or TECC - teams are assessed on good patient care and sound tactics in crisis and war, so military, civilian and other backgrounds can be measured on the same scale.
- After the competition, all scores, judge comments and a written after-action report are shared with every team. Humans do all scoring - AI is used only to compile the judges' scores and comments into a readable report.

Partners and exhibitors
NMC26 hosted more than fifteen stands - the Norwegian Armed Forces, volunteer defence organizations, tactical equipment retailers and medical suppliers - in front of an audience of medics, decision-makers and the public.
Partner packages for 2027 will be published when applications open in September 2026.
Volunteers
NMC runs on volunteers - judges, role players, casualty make-up, logistics, liaisons and the command post. You do not need to be a medic: most roles require no medical background.
